Tainted Love 80s Dance Party w/DJ Jane Elizabeth – 4/15/2023

Soft Cell’s pioneering 1981 cover of the Northern Soul classic, “Tainted Love,” is the inspiration for this awesome 80s dance party. Building on a solid foundation of New Wave, we’ll dig deeper into the catalog of massive hits and overlooked misses from the late 70s through the early 90s – pivotal years in musical history that blurred the lines between Analog and Digital, Disco and Synthpop, Funk and Hip-Hop. A time when Alternative was called Post-Punk, Indie actually meant independent, and Throbbing Gristle’s “Hot on the Heels of Love” surely could have been alongside Blondie’s “Heart of Glass” on the charts…with today’s perspective. Other passions include CBGB-era New York, Batcave-era London – Punk Rock, Glam Rock, Kraut Rock, Girl Rock, Dad Rock, Rockabilly, Ska, Machine Soul, Blue-Eyed Soul, Darkwave, Coldwave – plus some guilty pleasures in the (strictly) Old-School Rap department.

Hosted by DJ Jane Elizabeth (Stylus DJ Entertainment, Breakfast Club Philly 2010-2015).

Jane surpassed absolutely every expectation

“We were so very lucky to have DJ Jane at our wedding. From the very first time we talked to Jane, we knew we would be in good hands no matter who from Stylus was with us at our wedding. Jane took the time to really listen and understand what we wanted from the day overall, our musical tastes, and personalities. Jane also went far (far) out of her way to help us out in a pinch.
In addition, our wedding was very small, at a historical mansion with strict sound restrictions, and my husband and I each have very different tastes in music (The War on Drugs, Doves vs Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift). I was honestly not sure how all those things would come together. Jane surpassed absolutely every expectation we had – the music was amazing. Jane knew exactly how to work within the venue’s sound restrictions and played everything we wanted and more. Multiple people commented throughout the night as to how great the music was – Jane had something for everyone while being true to our vision. Every moment we wanted accompanied by a specific song, Jane made happen exactly as we hoped. We love listening to our wedding day playlist that Jane sent us to relive the special day. We all only wish we could have danced longer!!
Our wedding day was truly unforgettable and perfect (and low stress!!) for so many reasons. The amazing vendors, especially Jane, who helped us through planning and the day-of are a huge reason we felt so calm going into and throughout the day which ultimately allowed us to actually soak it all in with our closest family and friends.
We would absolutely recommend Stylus to any couple who doesn’t want the typical wedding DJ cheesiness and music and will actually work with you to execute exactly what you wanted and more. Thank you, Jane!!” -Lauren R. —The Knot & Google

Hiring DJ Jane was the best decision

“Hiring DJ Jane was the best decision we made during our wedding planning. Stylus was super easy to work with and had reasonable prices. They coordinated well with our venue and pulled together the perfect playlist (seriously — we got so many compliments on the music selection!). This was the wedding detail that I was most picky about (I go to 70-80 concerts a year and have a lot of strong opinions on music) and Stylus pulled together a soundtrack for our wedding (ceremony and reception) that was perfect. I can’t imagine anyone else doing better.” -Allison K. -The Knot & Google

Greatly appreciated by our older guests!

“Jane DJed our wedding at the American Swedish Historical Museum and did an AWESOME job of mixing our eclectic taste in music. The music audible, but not too loud (greatly appreciated by our older guests!), and it felt like you went from one song you were excited to hear to another. Working with her to gather the songs/genres was also very easy, she was even able to source the non-Western songs we requested. It made my father-daughter dance that much more special.” -Yolanda & Atif -Google
